For the first three rounds of selection, IGFbp-1 was covalently linked to biotin using EZ-Link NHS-SS-biotin (Pierce). The biotin-SS-IGFbp-1 was first allowed to bind to immunosorbent plates coated with NeutrAvidin (Pierce). The fourth round of binding selection was carried out on immunosorbent plates directly coated with IGFbp-1.
