AGOPredict

Welcome to AGOPredict home page! AGOPredict is an online service tool that can quickly identify argonaute proteins(Agos) from protein sequences submitted by users.

In eukaryotes, eukaryotic argonaute proteins(eAgos) play a vital role in RNA interference (RNAi) pathways by functioning as an RNA-guided RNA endonucleases. In prokaryotes, Agos usually bind small RNAs or small DNAs to defense against foreign invasive genomes, it indicates that pAgos have the potential as a candidate "scissors" for gene editing. Agos play an important function in the entire biological system. Of course, the prerequisite for studying Agos’ functions deeper is that we can discover new Agos among many different proteins. Currently, there are very few Agos in the UniProt database that have been manually reviewed, which cannot provide sufficient data support for Ago researchers. Therefore, it is urgent to develop an efficient and cheap tool to rapidly identify new Agos from massive biological data and provide more reliable data for subsequent research on Agos.

The AGOPredict is a novel Ago predictor based on support vector machine (SVM),which can help users find new Agos and accelerate the functional research of Ago proteins.
